BC Academic Enrichment Program (AEP)
When students are better prepared in their foundational knowledge, they are more confident in their scholastic abilities, which shows in their academic performance. To aid with improving the foundational knowledge of our students, the AEP, which is based upon the ALEKS, software suite was developed. ALEKS (Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces) is an online learning program that includes materials for a wide range of topics, including mathematics, chemistry, and physics. Through the AEP, students (incoming and enrolled) can have access to self-paced but guided resources as well as being connected to a community of support. Students can self-study during the academic year as well as during the summers and the winter intersession. Upon completion of the program, students will have:
- mastered basic algebra and geometry topics,
- gained skills in problem-solving techniques,
- gained introductions to simple topics in chemistry and physics to help them understand the connection between mathematics and science, and
- greater confidence and be better prepared for their courses.
